As far back as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by money. I noticed that some families were well-off while others struggled, and I often wondered why.
I grew up in a very old house—so old that it was already old when my dad was born. It was also small. My twin sister and I shared the same tiny room all the way through high school. Winters were especially tough, with drafts seeping through the floorboards, making the house cold and miserable. I often felt disappointed by the things we couldn’t have or do.
